Your lungs breathe whether you consciously control them or not.
Your digestive and circulatory systems take materials from outside and make them part of your cells.
Your muscles contract and relax in sync with each other to move your body throughout the day.
DON’T LET YOUR 5 SENSES, YOUR MOBILITY, YOUR STRENGTH, AND YOUR BIOLOGICAL FUNCTIONS BE THINGS THAT YOU NEGLECT TO APPRECIATE FULLY UNTIL THEY ARE GONE. We can lose any of these things at any time.
Take time now and every day to appreciate your body. Try:
- Closing your eyes, quieting your mind, relaxing your body, and focusing on your breath.
- Feeling which muscles are tensing and relaxing as you exercise.
- Paying attention to the pleasure you get from your senses, by listening to music, seeing a beautiful sunset, smelling fresh air, eating your favorite meal, or wrapping yourself in a soft blanket.
- Posting reminders to yourself to be mindful of the extraordinary feats your body completes on ordinary days.
Now make a commitment to TREAT YOUR BODY LIKE YOUR MOST AMAZING AND VALUABLE POSSESSION, because it is.
